This 17th Century, grade II listed Farmhouse is located in the rolling Radnor Hills on the edge of Brecon Beacon National Park and 15 minutes drive from Hay-on-Wye.
The property is surrounded by stunning views and walking opportunities in the Radnor Hills, the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is the perfect base for families and groups of friends. There is the splendid pub, 1 mile away.
The property stands on elevated ground on a sloping site and is one of three buildings around an old farmyard.
The House is arranged over 3 levels. The lounge, dining room, study and kitchen are on the ground floor with 4 bedrooms above it over 2 floors.
It very comfortably sleeps 8 guests. It has the possibility of accommodating 2 more on a sofa bed in the study on the ground floor.
The heart of the house is the kitchen which has been recently been sympathetically modernised to meet the needs of the keen cook.
It has an induction range, butler’s sink, with decent cookware and tableware to compliment. Taking pride of place in the centre is a generous kitchen table that is ideal for the preparation of festive feasts or a place for a hearty meal next to the stove.
The table will comfortably seat 8 and there are also window seats for quieter chats.
Connecting the kitchen and the dining room is the entrance hallway which contains the original shepherd’s crook / fishing rod racks. Fishermen are more than welcome to hang their rods on it during their stay.
The backdrop to the dining room is the original fireplace from the 1600s.
The oak dining table seats 10 with an extension to take the Christmas goose. The study off the dining room can be used for a variety of functions - from a little bar, a workroom, to a ground floor bedroom for those who want to avoid stairs. The house is furnished with a blend of furniture, details and objects from 17th century right up to the contemporary.
During Hay Festival: As we are in the hills above to Clyro, it is convenient to drive to Clyro and take the Festival Bus from here to the Festival site.
